Acute Inpatient Service  
Serving youth ages 4 - 18.  Southwood currently has a 33 bed acute inpatient service utilized for crisis stabilization for children and adolescents. The program utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a treatment model with a strong focus on family involvement.

  • Males and Females ages 4-18
  • Serving youth from Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania
  • Average length of stay is 5-7 days
  • Southwood accepts almost all insurances and the uninsured
  • 24-hour access to the intake and assessment department
  • Child and Adolescent Board Certified Psychiatrists

Sexually Maladaptive Behaviors RTF  
Serving adolescent boys ages 12 - 18.  Southwood Hospital currently has a 27 bed Residential Treatment Facility located within the main hospital campus.

  • Treatment of boys ages 12-18 exhibiting sexually maladaptive behaviors
  • IQ requirement of 60-110
  • Adolescents who have co-existing mental health diagnosis including sexually maladaptive behaviors
  • Psychiatric referral indicates the need for specialized treatment for sexual behavior
  • Specialized juvenile sex offender program
  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is the primary treatment model
  • SMB staff are especially trained to work with sex offenders
  • Individualized treatment programs for lower IQ adolescents
  • Treatment includes individual, family, and group therapy

Family Based Services
Serving children and families in Washington, Greene, Beaver, and Fayette counties.  Southwod currently has 4 teams comprised of masters and bachelors level therapists.  Teams carry a maximum caseload of 8 families.
Services can be provided to children of almost any age, provided it has been deemed medically necessary.

  • Currently serving families in Washington, Greene, Beaver, & Fayette counties
  • Intensive in-home service
  • Service is time limited to 8 months with extensions granted if necessary
  • Services are paid for through Medical Assistance
  • Services are provided by a team of therapists, at the bachelors or masters educational levels
  • Clients and families are seen 2-3 times per week, or as often as needed
  • Teams work with all family members under the model of Structural Family Therapy
  • Teams also provide case management and linkage to other services and community resources, as well as comprehensive discharge planning
  • 24/7 on-call service for crisis
